Friends of Herring River

Held at the Wellfleet Council on Aging, this event is co-sponsored by the Wellfleet Shellfish Advisory Board and Friends of Herring River. Presenters will speak about the science behind the Herring River Restoration Project’s benefits for shellfish resources, with opportunities for questions and discussion.  Kirk Bosma, P.E, M.C.E (Coastal Engineer, Woods Hole Group) will present “Sediment Transport and Hydrodynamic Modeling in Herring River, Wellfleet Harbor.” John Portnoy, Ph.D (Retired Ecologist, National Park Service) will present “Effect of Tidal Restrictions and Potential Benefits of Tidal Restoration on Fecal Coliform and Shellfish-Water Quality.” Mark Borrelli, Ph.D. (Coastal Geologist, Center for Coastal Studies) will present “Sediment Concerns and ‘The Gut’.”
